The Pittsburgh Steelers played possibly their worst game defensively in the season thus far but came up big when it mattered most to emerge with a 24-21 win over the divisional Baltimore Ravens. For most of the game, Pittsburgh could not get a stop. The Ravens dominated in time of possession, 31 minutes to 9 for the Steelers, and also got 314 yards through the air. However, the Steelers were able to get three interceptions through the game and turned many of these into points, including one returned by Akeem Jordan for 6. The Steelers’ run game also struggled yet again, as Lynch only had 13 yards on 7 carries. However, late in the third Coach AG decided to go with Kevin Smith and immediately upon putting him in the game, Smith took an outside run 35 yards for the TD. The game came down to the very last second of the fourth, as the Ravens were inside the 7, down three and threatening to score with just 20 seconds. Hill threw to the flats, however, the back was wrapped up quickly. With no timeouts left they were forced to rush to the line and snapped the ball with only two seconds left. Hill then rolled left looking to the flats again, however, everyone was covered and he was forced to run for the goal. Hayes stepped up just in time and stopped Hill just short at the two, securing the 3 point 24-21 lead. After the game Coach AG talked about the running back change and the game in general.
